~ Artist Bio ~ A longtime resident of Walnut Creek, CA, Lorraine enjoys all art media. Often painting on location, she paints many local and historical scenes. Preferring the traditional style, she expresses herself in a variety of subjects specializing in watercolor scenes and portraits. Lorraine has benefited by the countless long hours of study and practice with several nationally known prominent artists. Among the list are Gerald Brommer, Dong Kingman, Tom Nicholas, Zoltan Szabo, and the late Jade Fon and Millard Sheets. Jade Fon introduced Lorraine to watercolor in the Early 1970's. She was entranced with the media, finding it much easier to convey to her viewers her love of nature, people, and all the beauty that surrounds us. Lorraine is a signature member of the Society of Western Artists, and she is a member of several art associations, including the California Watercolor Association. Among her accolades is the Grumbacher Gold Medal for Best of Show and two Silver Medals. In addition, Lorraine has received numerous awards at County Fairs as well as many judged shows throughout the San Francisco/East Bay Areas. Her love for the San Francisco Bay Area is prevalent in many of her works, in that she capture the beauty and history of many landmarks of the area. Lorraine's artwork is shown in many commericial and private collections in the United States, Mexico, and Japan. She also exhibits in several business establishments and galleries in the East Bay Area. |
